Senior Design Project -
Desk Organizing Robot
Fall 2019 & Spring 2020
Purpose - Utilize the knowledge gained from our 4 years of study by creating and innovating a solution to a real world problem.
Problem - Unorganized desks lead to decreased productivity and unhealthy living environments.

Solution - An automated robotic desk assistant to organize your desk for you.
How does it work?

The robotic arm has a pixy camera sensor attached to the hand. It begins by sweeping the desk and searching for an object tag. Once the arm senses a colored tag, it stops, picks up the object, and sorts it into a predetermined location. After, the arm continues its sweeping pattern. This goes on until the robot cannot sense any more tags and the desk is clean!

Final design
The full arm uses a system of motors, servos, rail guides, and a camera sensor to move about multiple degress of freedom. This allows the arm to access objects anywhere on the desk.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our team was unable to return to campus and complete construction of the desk robot. However, we did progress to programming its autonomous features and was very close to project completion.
